About Megan

megan

This blog started in 2006 as a way for me to share my journey into the “green” world (for lack of better term). This in turn lead to learning about consumerism and how my daily purchases effect others and who is really paying the price for my cheap clothing.  This blog has followed me as I strive to live a more frugal life, keep a budget, learned to simplify my life and as I’ve struggled off and on with eating a healthier diet. And now I’m journeying into living life as a vegetarian, and ultimately a vegan lifestyle.

Blogging has been a love/hate relationship at times and I’ve learned the hard way when not to share too much or when I’ve shared to little. I’ve changed my ideas about some things I’ve posted in the past, and in that way this blog is more like an online journal or visual history to my life. I don’t pretend to have everything figured out, but this blog just follows my life as I strive to live a swell life inside and out, the way God intended.

I am in my early 20s and living in Central Illinois.  It isn’t surprising for people to tell me I am a different “Megan” than they knew a few years ago.

It’s cool that you do this. I don’t know how much I’ll get a chance to read it, but I’m sure I’ll enjoy it when I do. :)

Megan, I’ve found your blog because my blog says you linked to me, but I can’t find the link, so I’m not sure if it’s right or what interested you! But anyway, I see that we are both from the same area–I live in Oshkosh and work at the University!

Hi Megan! I recently came across your blog as my husband and I are looking to live a greener life. I was so excited to see that you are a Christian, because my husband and I both are, and I haven’t found ANY other blogs with Christian authors about treating God’s creation better then we currently are. So THANK YOU! Plus, I love how you aren’t afraid of doing all the budgets etc. on your blog. It definitely has given me a lot of insight into what I can do differently! And, you also inspired me to take the plunge to get rid of cable. I have been thinking about it for quite sometime, and finally convinced the husband we didn’t need it. Of course, we still have our TV’s, because we can’t be too extreme too fast :-) I just thought I would write and say thanks, and I look forward to reading your continuing journey.

    Megan,

Enjoy your blog, and your experiment of life without Wal-Mart. Check out http://www.walmartopia.com to find out about the new NYC Off-Broadway show on the company. The show originated in Wisconsin – the multi-media page (http://www.walmartopia.com/nav09.htm) has video and audio which capture the satire on the store many of feel so ambivalent about.
