Today is the second day in the Green Smoothie Challenge. Ideally I would have a 16 oz. green smoothie for breakfast, maybe a piece of fruit or granola bar as a mid-morning snack, then lunch. So the smoothie would replace my breakfast.
Today was a little different – I had to get up to take David to work so I can have the car today. I dropped him off @ 8am, then went to run some errands (Target – for Method soap, Walgreens – for travel box of Kleenex for car, Free Market – for groceries). I finally got home around 9:30am, and had to leave for school at 10:45am. So I unloaded the groceries, got ‘dressed’ (I was basically in my PJs before that), and made a green smoothie for my sister and I.
The smoothie basically replaced my lunch today. I drank it on the way to school in a reusable travel cup.
David took the camera to work today, so no fun pictures.
Today’s recipe (made about 40 oz, for Brooke and I):
2 handfuls of baby spinach leaves (pureed first) – organic
1 cup water – tap water
2 bananas – organic
1.5-2 cups of cantaloupe/honeydew - non-organic, clearanced at Woodman’s
3 apple slices (had them left over so threw em in!) - organic
1/2 bag of frozen pineapple tidbits, 1.5 cups? – non-organic but supposedly ‘natural’
It was pretty good. A little too cantaloupe for me, but it was easy and quick. I love that you can’t really ‘mess’ this up. I do try to puree the spinach & water first, then add the rest. It was tasty!
Part of the reason I had to drive instead of the bus today is because we’re going to a Raw Foods class tonight at the Red Radish Natural Foods store in Neenah – I’ll give you a heads up about that later!

Sounds yummy
I’ve also found that cantaloupe has a surprisingly strong flavor. And I’m totally jealous of your raw foods class. What fun!
