Flickr Friday: Preparing for Sabbath

Cute Pumpkins

I have the afternoon off of school today, so I plan on getting a lot of things done to prepare for Sabbath. It’s not necessary, but it’s a motivator. To know that I want the house clean and ready so that tomorrow I can truly rest.

On my to do list:
- put away laundry (it’s hanging-dry all over the apt from Wed. night washing)
- Clean the bathrooms (mainly toilets! fun!)
- Move David’s old desk to storage (moved my desk to his office, giving away his old desk – anyone need a desk?)
- Make dinner for today & tomorrow
- Make more granola and granola bars
- Figure budget
- Do grocery shopping
- Get passport
- Go to library

And if there’s time, I’ll try to get some homework done!

Even though I get overwhelmed thinking of my long list of wishes for today, it makes it easier to know that I will work today to be able to rest tomorrow. I just can’t relax when I look around and see things out of order (maybe I’m neurotic!), so I know I must get everything done today.

Hope you enjoy your weekend and enjoy the Fall weather! Can’t wait til we get to go pumpkin & apple picking!

    Jenna said,

We have been convicted of keeping the Sabbath, but have not done a good job at it lately. We always seem to find other things that get the priority. I am so glad you posted about it and the verses. I am sending those posts to my husband to read.

Also, I wanted to let you know I picked up the Total Money Makeover at the library and am loving it. It makes me want to go out and get a junker car right now. We don’t have any car payments, but I was trying to talk my husband into trading in our 2 cars for one. He’s not convinced yet :) I’m sure if we really worked hard at it, we could make it work. He is a pastor so needs it sporadically for hospital visits and such… and there are times I have to run out as well, but I would love to see it work.

We have a small house with a modest mortgage, but would love to lower that as well. The Lord is really opening our eyes to making our finances a huge act of worship to Him. Thanks for your posts! They are convicting and encouraging at the same time. Don’t stop!
