I think I could do most of these things on the list with varying degrees.....but no way would I ever give up TV! It's still the cheapest form of entertainment and news resource.

Hi Megan,
I love your site and I love learning ways to save money and reduse waste. I have a couple of suggestions for you. Save all leftover veggies, even just a little, and make soup. I love creating new soups out of leftover stuff, you'd be surprised! With thanksgiving coming up I always ask my mom for the turkey carcass and scraps (after it's cooked) then I simmer it for 3-4 hours with a lid and with whole carrots, whole stalks of celery and onions. When its done(if the broth tastes good) strain juice into another pan and let the carrots and celery cool. I usually cut them up and put them back in the soup.Throw out the bones and skin and stuff. Then I make homemade egg noodles and put those in to cook. My family loves this and it's a special treat.
Also, I cook a batch of dried beans(navy, black, pinto, kidney beans, lentils, dried peas, whatever i've got laying around) on the stove in water or broth and use those throughout the week to mix in other foods. They are a great replacement for meat in your diet and so much healthier.I use them with rice,on salads,in soup,on tortillas...
Another tip is the thrift shop on walter ave. in appleton. They have great sales on wednesdays. Every week they give 1/2 off for a certain color tag,but on weds. you get 2 other items of the same price or less free. So basically you get 3 items for the 1/2 price of one! the tags must all be the sale color for that week.
Maybe I'll see you there some wednesday :-)
blessings to you, Pam

Wow. I'm way impressed (and a little freaked out). We're pretty good on most of those items, but you smoke us on discretionary spending. :)
